All roads in Jaffna open for public

All roads in Jaffna district have been opened to the public following complete clearance of landmines in 1936 square kilo metres of land, Army Media Spokesman Brigadier Ruwan Wanigasooriya said.

priority had been given to the roads in urban and rural areas which are essential for administrative activities in landmine clearance activities, he added.

Clearance activities in all main roads and other areas which are essential for civilians day to day lives have been already completed.

Meanwhile, the Mullativu,Pudukudirippu,Wellimulla and Vaikkali road had been also opened recently. "The Economic Development Ministry's Task Force which had appointed for land mines clearance activities and other nine NGOs have been involved in land mines clearance activities under the patronage of Sri Lanka Army, "the Brigadier said.

"They have to clear another 124 square kilo metres in Jaffna district and those activities are going on in a very efficient manner, "he further added.
