TEHRAN – Iranian Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani has called for
the expansion of relations between Tehran and Colombo.
Larijani made the remarks during a meeting with Sri
Lanka’s Justice Minister Rauff Hakeem in Tehran on Monday.
During the meeting, Larijani stated that Iran’s
great potential in various areas can help the progress and development of Sri
Lanka and the Majlis supports efforts to enhance bilateral cooperation.
He also expressed hope that the obstacles in the way
of cooperation between the two countries would be removed through bilateral
parliamentary relationship.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Larijani said that the
Islamic Republic supports efforts to enhance peace and stability in regional
countries, including Sri Lanka.
Hakeem said that the Sri Lankan government attaches
great importance to ties with Iran.
